Advanced Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a type of exfoliation procedure in which one of our facial rejuvenation specialists uses a sterile surgical scalpel to “shave” the skin’s surface. This removes the top-most layer of dead skin and fine vellus hair, popularly called ‘peach fuzz’. By the end of treatment, patients are left with smooth, exfoliated skin.

While the procedure has popularly been compared to shaving your face, dermaplaning is much more than a form of depilation. The physical exfoliation and removal of the top layer of dead skin cells plays a key role in triggering skin cell regeneration, making the new healthy skin more receptive to other treatments, including chemical peels. Ultimately, the use of dermaplaning as a predecessor to other treatments helps increase the effectiveness of these secondary treatments, allowing patients to enjoy the full potential of their procedure.
